Warranty is one of the key elements of a certificate and can be a strong argument when choosing one. This guarantee is paid to visitors to your site who relied on the certificate and incurred losses directly as a result of an online credit card transaction and incorrect issuance of SSL certificate. This guarantee is paid on the outstanding amount of the transaction, not exceeding the maximum transaction value specified for the corresponding type of certificate.
VeriSign (Symantec) certificates were the first offering a $1 million warranties. Today, most leading CAs has few products with that level or higher, classically it is extended validation certs.
Fraudulent and phishing websites are growing daily and it is critically important to validate the business. The CAs performs careful verification processes to make sure your business is legit and able to receive OV or EV certificates. Paying for SSL never grants you it will be issued, even large companies may fail verification as same rules for all.
